All events and demonstrations to be organized to support People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari MP Leyla Güven, who is on a hunger strike to protest the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan, were banned by the governorates in Van and Hakkari. The protest ban issued in Van for four days and in Hakkari for fifteen days were based on “national security, public order and the protection of public peace.”
