The Diyarbakır Governor’s Office has imposed a four-day ban on meetings and demonstrations throughout the city. Following the decision, the Diyarbakır Bar Association filed a lawsuit demanding a suspension of the ban on the grounds that it violates the Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights. A planned rally demanding freedom for Abdullah Öcalan was also banned. The Urfa Governor’s Office also banned all actions and events throughout the city for three days. It was reported that the decision was made on the grounds of public order and security.
