Ege University students protested the appointment of Prof. Dr. Musa Alıcı, President of the İzmir Branch of the Society for the Dissemination of Science, as rector. The students marched on campus, chanting slogans against the appointment of trustees and sectarian connections. After the march, private security intervened when students attempted to hang banners. In a press statement, the students stated that they did not accept the appointment and voiced their demand for the liberation of universities.
