The second hearing of the lawsuit filed against Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu due to her social media posts was held at Istanbul 37th Assize Court. The Prosecutor’s Office claimed for Kaftancıoğlu to be sentenced to imprisonment due to “insulting the President,” “public denigration of the government of the Republic of Turkey,” “public incitement towards resentment and hostility,” “insulting a public officer based on his duty” and “making terrorist organisation propaganda.” The next hearing was scheduled for September 6, 2019.
