The proceeding of journalist Oktay Candemir continued at Van 5th Assize Court. Candemir faces the charge of ‘making illegal organization propaganda’ through the news he covered and his social media posts.
The indictment against Candemir considers watching the funerals of YPG, HPG and YPJ members for professional purposes as ‘illegal organization propaganda,’ including the funeral ceremony of Yunus Emre Şen, who lost his life in the explosion in Suruç on 20 July 2015. The court decided to “research whether Yunus Emre Şen was a terrorist organization member” and scheduled the next hearing to 1 November 2018.
