On April 30 in Istanbul, journalist Tolga Şardan was sentenced to five months in prison, and writer and lawyer Nurcan Kaya was sentenced to six years and three months. The court acquitted Şardan of one charge. In Kaya’s case, the charge of “membership in an organization” was upheld.
