An indictment has been prepared against Yavuz Kırma, known as comedian Yavuz Günal, on charges of “publicly insulting religious values embraced by a segment of the public.” The prosecution alleged that Kırma used mocking and derogatory language to describe religious events related to Islam in his stand-up comedy show and in a video he shared on social media. The indictment sought a prison sentence of 6 months to 1 year for the defendant. The case was accepted by the Anatolia Criminal Court of First Instance.
