On June 15, the court announced its verdict in the trial of Rojbin Kartal, the DEM Party’s candidate for co-mayor in the Patnos district of Ağrı. The court sentenced Kartal to five years in prison on charges of aiding an organization and ordered that she be barred from holding political office.
