“Press freedom still under crisis in Turkey”

Right international press and freedom of expression organisations had meetings with journalists, NGOs as well as authorities from the judiciary and the government. After three days of meetings, the organisations indicated that the crisis in Turkey continues in terms of press freedom and the supremacy of law.

The board consisted of the International Press Institute, Article 19, European Federation of Journalists, Committee to Protect Journalists, PEN International, PEN Norway, European Centre for Press and Media Freedom and Reporters Without Borders. The organisations indicated that the planned judicial reforms will not be trustworthy unless full judicial independence is provided and the journalist prosecutions come to an end.
