The police intervened the 23rd Istanbul Pride March, which was planned to be organized with the theme of “insistence on life”. The police took extensive security measures around Beyoğlu and Şişli and attacked LGBTI+ people gathered in Ortaköy. At least 10 people, including journalists, were detained on Hülya Street. Many people were also detained in handcuffs on Dereboyu Street, where the march was planned to start. DEM Party MP Kezban Konukçu reacted to the attack and said, “The palace regime cannot maintain its power by ignoring LGBTI+’s.”
