The police intervened against the students protesting Prof. Dr. Melih Bulu being appointed as the rector to Boğaziçi University. Bulu is the founder of Justice and Development Party (AKP) Sarıyet District Organisation and was the 2009 Ataşehir Mayor candidate and the 2015 Parliament member candidate. Two protester students were detained; many other students were detained the same night with house raids.
