Ömer Yıldız, co-chair of the DEM Party’s Gebze District Branch, was forcibly taken to the police station by police on March 22, 2026, while receiving treatment at the emergency room of Darıca Farabi Training and Research Hospital in Gebze, Kocaeli. MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu stated that Yıldız had suffered a head injury and was removed from the hospital by police before the doctor’s report was completed. The physician on duty in the emergency room attempted to prevent the police intervention. It was noted that the incident was linked to the post-Newroz detention process. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
