The police intervened against the women, who wanted to hold a press statement in Ankara to make a call for the rally organised in Istanbul on June 19 with the slogan, “We do not give up on the Istanbul Convention.” Attempting to disperse the crowd, the police used tear gas. Nine women were beaten and detained.
