Police has intervened students, reacting against the dorm construction on a 40 thousand square meter area at the Middle East Technical University (METU), with tear gas. The students were beaten and dragged out of the construction area; hundreds of trees were cut under police blockade. The march organized in Kadıköy, Istanbul with the banner, “Resist METU, We’re with you!” to support METU students was attacked by the police; three people were detained.
