The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Women’s Assembly’s planned march in the city center of Iğdır on February 26, as part of International Women’s Day on March 8, was blocked by police. Although the governor’s office had granted permission for the march, police prevented the group from proceeding, citing banners and placards as justification, and cordoned off the area. The women then made a press statement in front of the DEM Party Iğdır Provincial Organization. DBP Women’s Assembly Spokesperson Berivan Bahçeci stated that women’s struggle for rights was being obstructed. The statement ended with halay dancing and slogans.
