On January 12, police blocked a march by members of the Labor and Democracy Platform who wanted to protest the clashes in the Sheikh Maksud and Eşrefiye neighborhoods of Aleppo. The crowd, surrounded by police, made a press statement in front of the Aydın Perihan Shopping Mall after the march was blocked. Speaking on behalf of the Platform, Sevda Akın Akar stated that civilians, especially women and children, were being targeted in Aleppo and called on the United Nations and international institutions to take responsibility.
