Middle East Technical University (METU) Sociology Department Research Member Sibel Bekiroğlu, who is among the scientists on trial due to signing the Peace Petition of the Academics for Peace Initiative, was sentenced to 1 year and three months of imprisonment. Istanbul 27th Assize Court deferred the announcement of the verdict. According to the data of the initiative, the number of academics with convictions against them so far has increased to 204.
