Summaries against Parliamentary immunities continued to arrive at the Parliament this week. 10 new summaries were prepared, six of which were against People’s Democratic Party (HDP) members. There are currently 1336 files of immunity against 195 Parliament members. 955 of those are against 59 People’s Democratic Party (HDP) members, including 3 names who already lost their seat at the Parliament. There are 54 summaries against one Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Parliament member; 245 summaries against 97 Republican People’s Party (CHP) Parliament members and 9 summaries against two Workers’ Party of Turkey Parlaiment members. Events and protests, as well as press statements the Parliament members have participated in, their social media posts and speeches are made subjects to these Parliamentary summaries. For instance, Diyarbakır Parliament Member Garo Paylan is accused of calling former People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, “Dear Demirtaş.” Paylan is accused of “praising the crime and the criminal,” based on his social media posts on the Gezi Park protests, Boğaziçi University protests and Osman Kavala Case as well. Some other things the Parliamentary summaries were based on are the protest People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Batman Parliament member Feleknas Uca participated in and was exposed to police violence, the speech given by the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Ağrı Parliament Member Dilan Dirayet Taşdemir at the Provincial Congress of her party, People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul Parliament member Oya Ersoy’s participation in a protest against trustees, People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Urfa Parliament Member Ayşe Sürücü’s press statement on November 25, The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women as well as a poem she shared on social media.
