Police detained former AKUT Chair Nasuh Mahruki over a social media post about the July 15 coup attempt. The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an ex officio investigation into Mahruki on a charge of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility or degrading the public.” In his post, Mahruki alleged that authorities detected the coup attempt in advance but did not prevent it because they used it to change the regime.
