On April 27, during a protest by Doruk Madencilik workers in Ankara, Gökay Çakır, President of the Independent Mining Workers’ Union (Bağımsız Maden-İş), and organizing specialist Başaran Aksu were detained. The workers had intended to march to the Ministry of Energy to demand payment of their unpaid wages and compensation, but the police blocked the march.
