Journalists Ahmet Kanbal, Mehmet Şah Oruç, Rojda Aydın, Nurcan Yalçın, Halime Parlak and eight others have been detained during the protest organised in Mardin on August 20, 2019 after a trustee was appointed to Mardin, Diyarbakır and Van Metropolitan Municipalities. The first hearing of the lawsuit filed against the journalists was held due to “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911.” The lawsuit at Mardin 1st Criminal Court of First Instance will continue on October 13.
