A lawsuit was filed against Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporters Sadiye Eser and Sadık Topaloğlu with the allegation of “illegal organisation membership.” Eser and Topaloğlu were arrested at the beginning of December. The indictment, prepared by Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office, considered journalistic activities, travels abroad, notes and material for news reporting as “criminal evidence.” It further presented the Mezopotamya Agency as an “unlawful” organisation; with the events and statements followed by the journalists as well as the Kurdish songs they listened to presented as “criminal elements.” The first hearing of the case will be held on March 26.
