Azadiya Welat Daily’s former Managing Editor İsmail Çoban had previously been sentenced to 4 years and six months in prison in the lawsuit filed against him. The court further recorded the defense statement made by Çoban in Kurdish in the hearing as an “unknown language” and made Çoban pay the translation fee.
