In the lawsuit filed against Mesopotamia Agency reporter Ruken Demir on the charge of “terrorist organization membership” on the grounds that “he was trying to create a perception that there is no rule of law in Turkey” with his news, the journalist was acquitted. The journalist, who was on trial at Izmir 19th Assize Court, was arrested within the case file on November 16, 2019 and was released in the first hearing held around 4 months after his arrest.
