Four people, including journalist Oktay Candemir, were detained on May 5, 2019 in Van during the police intervention against the press statement organised by the People’s Democratic Party (HDP). The lawsuit filed against those detained due to “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911” was concluded with acquittal. Van 5th Assize Court issued the acquittal of all defendants due to “no concrete and tangible evidence was found” against the defendants.
