Journalist Ahmet Kanbal was acquitted in the first hearing of the lawsuit filed against him at the Mardin 1st Criminal Court of First Instance upon the complaint of Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu. The journalist was charged with “insulting a public official” due to his tweet after Soylu’s resignation: “Rats leave the sinking ship first… It is a universal saying… The ship sinks when the rats leave…”
