Istanbul Governorate banned outdoor events in five districts for one day. Intelligence information obtained from “virtual patrols” was cited as justification. However, the Constitutional Court stated in its 2020 ruling that the “virtual patrol” authorization was illegal. The ban covers all activities such as meetings, marches, opening stands, banners and leaflets.
