The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into 24 people, including journalist Sema Bingöl, who were detained at a commemoration held on the 13th anniversary of the death of Ethem Sarısülük, who was killed during the Gezi protests. Prosecutors charged the suspects with “violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations.” Police assaulted and detained Bingöl, a Mezopotamya Ajansı reporter who was covering the commemoration, and later released her from police custody.
