The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation following the sharing on social media of footage taken during the trial in which Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is also a defendant. The prosecutor’s office stated that the unauthorized recording and sharing of audio or video during trials in the prosecution phase constitutes a crime. As part of the investigation launched under Article 286 of the Turkish Penal Code, the Cybercrime Department was instructed to identify the perpetrators.
