The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an ex officio investigation over a video shared on Instagram by an account using the alias “Kuzey.” The prosecutor’s office assessed that the statements in the video constituted the offenses of “insulting a public official because of their duty” and “denigrating the Turkish nation, the Republic of Turkey, and the institutions and organs of the state.” Instructions were issued to identify the suspect and detain the person on a charge of “insulting a public official.”
