Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against Grok, the artificial intelligence application of social media platform X, on charges of “insulting religious values”, “insulting the President” and “insulting Atatürk”. The Prosecutor’s Office also issued an access ban for some content.
After the last update, Grok’s abusive responses and praise of Adolf Hitler caused controversy. Minister of Transportation Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that Grok was not banned but was asked to remove the content and said “we will ban it if necessary.”
Poland is also preparing to file a complaint with the European Commission over Grok’s offensive remarks about Prime Minister Tusk. X’s lawyer in Turkey, Gönenç Gürkaynak, said that the artificial intelligence tool’s being subjected to a criminal investigation was “no longer a surprise”.
Grok became the first artificial intelligence tool in Turkey to be directly investigated and blocked from access.
