Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office started an investigation against the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Ağrı Parliament member Berdan Öztürk due to his statement on the stamps printed by the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Administration for the visit of Pope Francis. The Parliament member had stated, “The memory stamp prepared for the visit of the Pope has a map of Kurdistan on it and it is a symbol of the geography of Kurdistan and Mesopotamia.” Öztürk is charged with making terrorist organisation propaganda.
