Boğaziçi University Rectorate started an investigation against the student, who waved an LGBTQ+ rainbow flag on the gate of the university campus during the protests against the appointed rector Melih Bulu. The student stated, “It is absolutely absurd to consider it a crime to wave an LGBTQ+ flag. It is neither a crime to wave the LGBTQ+ flag, nor to do it at the campus gate… LGBTQ+ rights are human rights and therefore I do not accept their accusation of terrorism against us just because we defend our rights.”
