The police intervened against the march organised by the Istanbul Pride March organising committee on June 26, Saturday at 5 p.m. at Taksim Square, detaining at least 25 people. During the heavy police intervention, AFP reporter Bülent Kılıç was detained by being stepped on his neck; many other press members were prevented from recording visuals during the demonstration. Those detained include citizens reacting against the police intervention as well as residents of the surrounding neighborhood.
