At least 21 people, including Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) executives, rights advocates and journalists, were detained with house raids organised in Istanbul, Diyarbakır, Kars and Mardin. Among those detained in Istanbul is Vildan Atmaca, a reporter for the newspaper Şujin, which was previously shut-down with a Statutory Decree. It was learned that Atmaca was detained within the scope of the investigation opened on the grounds of the news she reported in 2015 and 2016. In the meantime, those detained were restricted from meeting with their lawyers for 24 hours.
