The release of Adem Oktay, who is being held at Karabük T-Type Prison, has been postponed for the eighth time on the grounds that he refused to accept the “expression of remorse” requirement. Oktay, who became eligible for conditional release in 2023, has had his release blocked for another 9 months. DEM Party MP Newroz Uysal Aslan brought the matter before the Parliamentary Human Rights Investigation Commission. The petition stated that the practice is arbitrary and exceeds legal boundaries.
