In the case against journalist and publisher Hakkı Boltan, who is charged with “insulting the president,” the court sent the case file to the prosecutor for review and postponed the hearing until January 6, 2026. Boltan did not attend the hearing at the Diyarbakır 12th Criminal Court of First Instance; his lawyer, Resul Temur, was present.
The charges against Boltan are based on his statements about journalist Rohat Aktaş, who lost his life in Cizre in 2016. The prison sentence handed down in 2021 was overturned on appeal; the case is being retried.
