The first hearing of the lawsuit filed against Die Welt reporter and journalist Deniz Yücel due to “public insult against public officer” through a social media post, in which he criticised the “Gezi Park Indictment” on February 20th, 2019, was held at Istanbul 24th Criminal Court of First Instance. The court ordered Yücel, who resides in Germany, to submit his defense statement and postponed the case until June 11th, 2020.
