Presidency guards tortured lawyer Sertuğ Sürenoğlu after his reaction against the blockage of Çırağan Street to traffic for the weddings of the children of Demirören and Kalyon Groups owners, with President Erdoğan participating the weddings as witness.
The lawyer was beaten and taken into the security vehicle after asking why the road was blocked. Inside the vehicle, Sürenoğlu was blindfolded and reverse handcuffed, with the vehicle going inside Çırağan Palace borders. The torture went on for about two hours inside the vehicle.
Furthermore, an investigation was opened against Sürenoğlu due to “insulting the President” after being tortured. Istanbul 12th Criminal Judicature of Peace issued for the lawyer to be “taken under judicial measures through not leaving his residential home.”
