Economist Mustafa Sönmez, who faced a judge at Istanbul 30th Criminal Court of First Instance on charges of insulting President Erdoğan, was acquitted. With this decision, the economist, who was on trial for three social media posts, was acquitted of the fifth case he was tried for “insulting Erdoğan”.
