After Dr Güle Çınar, MD was forced to apologize by Ankara University due to her expressions, “The umrah ruined everything, there are thousands of cases,” during the speech she gave for her colleagues in Ankara on the first days of the outbreak; a similar incident occurred in Izmir. Dokuz Eylül University (DEU) Pandemic Service Head Dr Yusuf Savran shared a video he recorded, stating that the rate of cases and death in Turkey could lead to a much worse situation than what’s happening in Italy today. Savran was forced to apologize as well, just like Çınar. The statement made by the University claimed that Savran’s expressions were misunderstood. “We would like to share that our colleague was misunderstood and he is sorry for it as well,” the university stated. Savran shared another video and said, “I apologize from my government authorities and people.”
