Ankara University Rectorate initiated disciplinary proceedings against some students who were detained for participating in May 1 demonstrations.
In the call sent to the students, it was reported that in line with the letter of the Istanbul Security Directorate dated June 29, a disciplinary investigation was initiated against the students for “violating the Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations”.
As a result of the disciplinary investigation, students may lose their dormitory, scholarship and loan rights. According to the regulations of the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories, suspension or expulsion from school can lead to the termination of scholarship and loan rights.
On May 1, there were many detentions in Istanbul and Ankara. While the Ministry of Interior announced that a total of 409 people were detained, according to the ÇHD report, 419 people were detained, 36 of whom spent the night in custody.
