Former Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, who was tried on charges of insulting the then-Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu for the speech he gave at the Mersin rally of his party in 2016, was sentenced to 11 months and 20 days in prison. The next hearing of the lawsuit filed against Demirtaş in Mersin on the charge of “insulting the President” based on the speeches he gave between 2014 and 2016 will be held on February 18.
