Lieutenant Colonel Mehmet Alkan, who was dismissed from public service with a Statutory Decree, was sentenced to pay a judicial fine due to “insulting” Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli through a letter he wrote to him. Ankara 47th Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced Alkan to pay 5,300 Turkish Liras of judicial fine, which corresponds to 265 days of imprisonment.
