The Constitutional Court (AYM) decided that the administrative fine issued against previously dismissed Education and Science Workers’ Union (Eğitim-Sen) member teacher Erdal Karadaş due to two acts, that are, distributing leaflets and opening a petition booth in order to protest dismissals from public service was a violation of the right to meeting and demonstration. The AYM indicated that peaceful, nonviolent meetings and demonstrations cannot be banned with “arbitrary reasons” and indicated that those losing their jobs trying to make their voices heard is their most natural right.
