Conscientious objector Kamil Murat Demir, who was on trial due to “draft evasion”, was acquitted due to the administrative fine sentenced against him was not issued in accordance with legal procedure. Pertek Criminal Court of First Instance denied the claim of Conscientious Objection Association Co-Chair Atty. Gökhan Soysal, who wanted to carry Article 1 of the Military Service Law due to being against the Constitution. Soysal indicated that the verdict of acquittal issued in the hearing is not directly related to the right to conscientious objection but rather due to the procedure related to the issue of the penalty against him. He further pointed out that they will continue their fight; calling all conscientious objectors for solidarity.
