Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine member Prof. Dr. Teoman Cem Kadıoğlu, who prepared the health column on Posta Daily for 15 years, was fired from the newspaper after his tweet that revealed the circulation numbers of another newspaper. Posta Daily is owned by Demirören Holding and the circulation numbers belonged to a newspaper owned by another holding.
Here’s the tweet posted by Prof. Dr. Kadıoğlu on February 24, Sunday: “Hürriyet Daily’s Istanbul actual circulation 28.000, total Turkey circulation 60.000. Is the only reason for such low numbers social media and digital revolution?” Another tweet posted by Kadıoğlu on the same day stated, “There used to be only one newspaper published on holidays and writers were from all newspapers. Now it’s as if it is a holiday every day; all newspapers are published with the same headline, even with the same content and comments…”
