DEM Party Amed MP Ceylan Akça Cupolo brought the imposition of a single language at TED College and the punishment given to the Kurdish slogan on Amedspor’s jersey to the parliamentary agenda. Cupolo submitted parliamentary questions to Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak and Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin. In the motion, it was emphasized that although the Kurdish slogan was previously approved by the TFF, its subsequent punishment is an institutional intolerance towards the visibility of the Kurdish language in the public sphere. It was also stated that the edict at TED College stating that ‘no language other than Turkish will be used’ is an ideological imposition of a single language, which poses serious problems for social peace and democratic future. Ministers were asked about the legal basis of these practices, their social impact and the measures to be taken.
