Academic Cenk Yiğiter, who was dismissed for signing the Peace Declaration, was sentenced to 1 year, 5 months and 15 days in prison on charges of “insulting the president” for a social media post he made in 2016. The Court of Cassation upheld the verdict. Yiğiter stated that he meant the head of the department at the faculty with the expression “head” in his post.
