An operation was conducted against Buca Municipality as part of a bribery investigation coordinated by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation alleged that illegal practices were carried out in zoning and planning procedures in exchange for bribes. During the operation conducted by teams from the Izmir Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit, arrest warrants were issued for 28 suspects. As a result of the operation, 25 people were detained. It was reported that one suspect was abroad and efforts to apprehend two other suspects were ongoing.
